How to Prepare Your Home for Winter Fuel Delivery

Winter has arrived in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, and the team at Sunshine Fuels & Energy Services wants to make sure that your next fuel delivery goes as smoothly as possible. We know remembering to prepare for a fuel delivery may not be top of mind during the holiday season, so our experts created a simple checklist of things you can do to make it easy and safe for our delivery drivers to bring you the heating oil or propane gas you need. Keep reading this blog to learn how you can help our drivers make your delivery as efficient as possible.

Top 5 Tips to Make Your Fuel Deliveries a Breeze

Clear & Mark Your Fill Pipe or Propane Tank

Please be sure to clear away any snow from around your fill pipe or propane tank so that our drivers can deliver your fuel in a timely manner. It might also be a good idea to place a flag or driveway stake near the fill pipe or propane tank so it’s easy to find.

Unlock Your Gates

Have a fence with a gate on your property that’s between our driver and your fill pipe or propane tank? Make sure it’s unlocked so our driver can easily deliver your fuel.

Make Sure Animals Are Inside

Please bring your dog or other pets indoors before we arrive to deliver your fuel. Many animals can be frightened by the sounds our trucks make, which isn’t good for us or them!

Move Any Buried Hazards

Many of us have lawn décor, garden hoses, and other objects on our properties that might not get taken inside during winter. We ask that you check the snow for anything that could potentially be a tripping hazard and remove it.

Shovel or Plow Your Driveway

Keeping your driveway free of snow and ice is an important step to ensure a smooth fuel delivery. Remember that our trucks are wider than your car, so they need some extra room!
